About the card values
Planning poker uses Fibonacci numbers (1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 13, 21) because the increasing gaps reflect growing uncertainty — you can be precise about small tasks but not large ones. Three special cards round out the deck:
- ∞ — Story is too complex to estimate; split it first
- ? — "I don't have enough information to estimate yet"
- ☕ — "We need a break before estimating this one"
- Wide spread? — Discuss outliers before re-estimating
